    Giving is AWESOME!

    November 26, 2009

I’m at it again…I did this last year and… you got it… I’m offering it again this year. Why? Because Brandi loves people and I love what I do so… I have to give! and because… GIVING IS AWESOME!

You know someone. You know someone who’s experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who can’t afford custom photography, but who would cherish it this holiday season. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family’s spirit, love, and beauty.

You know someone. I guarantee it.

I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography — $250 worth, to be exact. Whether it’s canvas or albums, prints for Grandma, or a slideshow to watch over and over, it’s in your power to give them the artwork they deserve this holiday season.

Oh, and the best part? The person who nominates the winner receives a $50 print credit. What better reason to show some love could there possibly be, people?

    The rules:

    * You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services. (Being unable to make mortgage payments for a two-million-dollar-vacation-home in Paris does not qualify as sincere financial need.)

    * The nominee must reside in Jacksonville, FL. Tell me who you know, what they’re experiencing, and why they deserve my artwork. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well.

    * You must e-mail me the full story : info@branditphotography.com

The winner will be announced on Christmas Eve — get nominating! I can’t wait to read all of your entries!

Open your heart to someone this holiday season — and thanks for giving me the opportunity to open mine.

    With love,
    brandi

    My son… the photographer

    November 24, 2009

    I use that term photographer loosely… :/
got up early one morning to prepare for shoots all day. I booked mini shoots back to back since they were only 15 minute shoots. Thank you GOD that everyone was on time and all the kids cooperated!!
noah got up that morning and asked if he could come to work with me. I NEVER bring my children on shoots with me because I cant concentrate. Well he asked if he could help shoot and I thought… hmmm this could be interesting…
He got all dressed up and got my old SLR camera and wrapped it around his neck and was all ready. He was so cute. In the car he asked me was it ok to shake my clients hand and tell them his name was Noah! I told him SURE! He said, “Well I dont want them to laugh at me so I wont do it!” lol That boy is a trip.

The first photo is a photo I took of him ( trin came too with her camera that she got for her birthday…she took 1 photo)
and the second is Noahs shot of the family.

and his shot (well at least he didnt chop any limbs) hehehe

    Something Strange amongst us

    November 24, 2009

I was outside in my yard and I saw these strange looking things poking out the mulch…
    What is it?? Hmmm….
So I took a picture of it. Noah warned me the whole time I was down on the ground trying to take a picture… he kept saying it was a rattle snake and if I keep shooting it, it would bite me…. BOYS I tell ya!

So I did some research…. boy GOOGLE is a great tool!

They are called Stink horn Mushrooms and they are called STINK horn for a reason…phew!! If I never see (or smell) another one of these in my yard again, I would be all too happy.

This is what google says about Stink horns

Stinkhorns are amazing mushrooms, notorious for popping up suddenly and unexpectedly in urban settings. They are very diverse in appearance, but all of them share at least two features:

    # Some part of the fruiting body, at some stage in development, is covered with a foul-smelling slime.

    # The fruiting body arises from an “egg,” traces of which may disappear by maturity.

Beyond these shared features, however, just about anything goes, and stinkhorns range from looking rather like Morels to appearing like, um, a portion of canine anatomy, or odd marine creatures with tentacles, or crab claws, Wiffle balls, Chinese lanterns, and so on.

Stinkhorns occur “naturally” in North America, especially in subtropical and tropical regions–but some stinkhorn fruitings in temperate and north-temperate climates may be caused by human endeavors, resulting from the transportation of soil, sod, wood chips, trees, and so on. Thus MushroomExpert contributor Ron Meyers found Lysurus mokusin outside a library in Lawrence, Kansas, and contributor Tim Geho found Aseröe rubra in South Carolina.

The method the stinkhorns use to disperse spores is quite ingenious, though a little disgusting to human sensibilities. The foul-smelling slime is calculated to attract flies and other insects, who land on the slime and gobble it up. Little do the insects know that they have been duped into covering their little insect feet with stinkhorn spores, and have ingested spores into their digestive tracts! Later, these spores are dispersed by the unwitting insects, and the stinkhorn life-cycle continues elsewhere.

One stinkhorn, Phallus impudicus, is often mistaken for a yellow morel by summer morel hunters who are hunting with their hearts instead of their minds. However, the season alone (to say nothing of the presence of stinky slime and the underground “egg”) should serve to separate the stinkhorn; morels don’t grow in summer . . . and “de Nile” is not just a river in Egypt.

    The diva turned 3

    November 24, 2009

Trinity had her birthday party on November 7th…. it was craaaaaazy! There were kids everywhere. We wanted to have it outside since it was a beautiful day…but kids next to a pond loaded with pit balls doesn’t mix apparently. I will leave that up to your imagination! o_O
My husband said no more kid parties at the house, lol! But then he said… if we do they have to be kept outside, hahahaha!

My dear friend, Shawna and I had our girls on the same day and we finally go them together to spend their birthdays together.(they live in Atlanta)
The girls had a blast together and the party went well once we got all the kids in check. (thanks Claribel ;)

Trinity received a ton of barbies. And I guess you can never have too many Barbie dolls, lol! According to my friends anyway… so now we have to expand this and get cars, houses, clothes, etc for Barbie.
Thank you everyone who came out… Thank you cards are coming out as soon as I get everyone’s address.
